And here we go: Let’s start the hot July with great concerts, cool city festivals, interesting shows or even a rubber duck race. There’s plenty to do in FFH-Land again this weekend!

Events in North Hesse
Corn maze in Basdorf
The corn maze in Basdorf will be open again from Sunday, July 3rd at 11:00 am. The Maislabyrinth team will once again do their best to ensure a pleasant stay for locals and guests. Attractive prizes await again in the corn maze quiz.
Next to the classic corn maze On an area of approx. 3.5 hectares and 3000 meters of wrong tracks, there are still countless opportunities to pass the time, from a huge playground to corn ponds to a go-kart track. Archery is also possible this year.
In addition to countless other regional products, the farm also offers sausages and ham from the Basdorfer Hutewald. As in previous years, the range has been expanded to include wild sausages from a local supplier.
The corn maze is open every day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in season. Every Thursday from 6 p.m., the tarte flambée is baked again in the wood-fired oven. Admission for adults and youth is €6.50. Children from 3 to 14 pay €5.50.
Squeaking Duck Race in Fritzlar
The duck race in Fritzlar will take place again next Sunday. Anyone can buy a duck ticket for 5 euros and participate. Proceeds go to projects for children and young people.
More than 1,000 small yellow squawking ducks will be released into the water in the Mühlengraben on Sunday. As in real competitions, the fastest ducks in the races advance to the finals. Then great prizes await.
Events in East Hesse
Fulda city festival
Over 60 hours of live music on two large stages awaits the visitors of the Fulda City Festival on the first weekend of July in Fulda. Numerous restaurateurs and a mile of street food offer regional and national specialties for culinary enjoyment.
There are many ways to experience the city center in the “Style the Mile – graffiti show”, in the StadtGarten, at dance workshops and singing concerts, at the silent disco and open church nights. Going shopping on Sunday 03.07. all shopping lovers can experience the pulsating atmosphere of a big city.
The city festival offers numerous opportunities to become interactive. Children and young people will have a lot of fun on Borgiasplatz and Antonius- Life perspectives for people with disabilities organizes various practical activities for children and adults. Borgiasplatz has music every day from 5 pm with DJ Benwild.
See-Musik-Festival in Seepark in Flieden
Weekend from 02.07 to 03.07. the See-Musik-Festival will take place again in the Seepark in Flieden. The cultural highlight of the Kingdom of Flieden: among other things, the band “JusToto -The Soulful TOTO-Tribute” plays, there is a spectacular laser show above the lakemarionette theater for the youngest visitors or a musical performance at the Royal Stadium as the grand finale.
Bad Hersfeld Festival
Famous names can also be found in the supporting program of the 71st Bad Hersfeld Festival this summer and increase the anticipation. The schedule includes concerts by Philipp Hochmair, Julie Engelmann and Cassandra Steen.
Let’s start Friday with “Notre Dame”: Victor Hugo’s novel was published in 1831 under the title Notre-Dame de Paris. 1482 and immediately became a bestseller. At the Bad Hersfeld Festival, the story of Quasimodo and Esmeralda will be only part of the production. Joern Hinkel and his team will include romantic, sometimes grotesque scenes, as well as historical and philosophical considerations of the novel.

Events in central Hesse
Philipps University of Marburg celebrates
On Friday, the university garden is transformed into a large festival landscape. The festival starts at 2 pm and offers an attractive program with live music, information and practical activities until late in the evening.
The biology department, for example, offers an exhibit from the herbarium and zoological collection in conjunction with the quiz. The Botanical Garden provides information about the “Urbanity and Diversity” project. And the Green School shows how to paint and make up with flowers.
Live music is provided by country singer Dana Marie with her band, the band “Die Schwindler”, the student big band and Unichor Marburg.
At the summer festival, guests can not only travel the world on thematic tours, for example on the “World Tour Greenhouses”, but also go on culinary expeditions, for example with show cooking with the head chef of the Studentenwerk Martin Baumgarten, or with a chocolate tasting with Annette Klingelhoefer . Entrance is free.
Ketzerbach Society and Ketzerbach residents Businessmen and companies present a diverse cultural, gastronomic and social offer for two days. Visitors to the “Boulevard Ketzerbach” project district can expect culinary delights and entertainment with a regional and international focus. Entrance to the street festival is free. It starts on Saturday and Sunday around 11 am.
24. Fundraising with a bicycle tour organized by the association Menschen für Kinder e. V
On July 2, 2022, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., the 24th donor bicycle tour will take place. This year, 500 cyclists are participating in this annual cycling tour organized by the association Menschen für Kinder eV to collect donations for children with cancer and those in need.
After a joint breakfast at 7:00 a.m., and words of welcome and blessing of the journey, the entourage of cyclists and accompanying vehicles will set off on an official tour around 8:00 a.m. along a demanding almost 100-kilometer route with a height difference of 1,200 meters. The start and finish are this year in Wetzlar. The last stage takes us back to Wetzlar via the Domplatz in the Buderus Arena, where the final party is organized for all participants and, of course, interested guests.

Überwald home festival
The large folk festival Überwald, a local festival, is traditionally held on the first weekend of July in Wald-Michelbach. One of the highlights is the big parade on Sunday with the destination Festplatz. There will be an opening with the traditional band Kocherbach and a keg of beer pouring – then there will be a party with the band “The RoxXx”
There is also a mountain bike rally at the fair and morning pizza and lunch with musical entertainment.
Lindenfels Kite Festival
The eighth Lindenfels Kite Festival will take place after the two-year Corona break on the first Sunday in July – this year on Sunday 3rd July. The dragon museum association invites you to the garden of dragons. This is presented in all its bloom, thanks to the good care of the “gardeners’ association”. Inside the tower you can see illuminated paintings with historical dragon motifs. 100 steps lead to a viewing platform with a glass pyramid.
Not only from there, but also from the dragon temple, visitors can enjoy the view of the Weschnitztal. From 11:00 to 18:00 there will be a party in the dragon garden. There is also an abundance of grilled food, salads, drinks and a cake counter.
For children, games are offered in addition to the guessing game a large Chinese dragon will move between the dragon museum and the Burgstrasse.
Summer Open Air Groß-Gerau
Two years in a row, the otherwise annual summer open air had to be canceled due to the pandemic. However, on July 2, 2022, we will finally be able to resume. Then visitors to Helvetia Parcs in Groß-Gerau can finally look forward to a colorful program with performances by local famous artists, excellent VIP activities, acrobatics, games, entertainment and lots of great activities for young and old.
The family festival with a music stage is open to all ticket holders according to 3G regulations. All proceeds benefit the Bundesverband Kinderhospiz eV, i.e. children and young people throughout Germany with life-limiting illnesses and their families.
